The Aquatic Resource Conservation Electronic Library
Accessibility to relevant and accurate, science-based information is important for resource decision-makers, managers, students, scientists, and the general public to develop informed opinions. This need requires not only making that information available when and where it is needed, but also targeting the message differently for each group.
The Aquatic Resource Conservation electronic Library will be a compendium of downloadable PowerPoint slideshow presentations, each one explaining a different key aquatic resource issue and authored by a different team of experts. Each presentation will be written in three versions to target the needs of different user groups, including decision-makers, educators, resource advocates, and the general public. These presentations will provide a mechanism for the widespread dissemination of science-based information to each user group. Each presentation will include a general overview of the issue, a summary of the relevant scientific information available, an unbiased presentation of the various viewpoints regarding the issue, a synopsis of how this issue relates to aquatic resource conservation and society in general, and a call for future needed actions. The Aquatic Resource Conservation electronic Library represents a new way to get quality scientific information into the hands of those who want it and those that need it.
